Russia has accused Ukraine of crossing the border into its Kursk territory, which is unusual. If verified, this will be the first instance of Ukraine’s intrusion into this area, placing pressure on Moscow in a region that has not been significantly impacted by the two-year conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military launched a “massive attack” on Tuesday, August 6, trying to breach Russian defences on the borders of the Kursk region, which is located just north of I’s Sumy region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the Russian Investigative Committee, and the Russian Ombudsman for Children.
According to Russian military bloggers, Ukrainian forces launched air and ground attacks on Russian territory close to the village of Sudzha, which is roughly six miles (10 km) from the border.
